About Our Practice
General Questions
Yes — when clinically appropriate. We evaluate each patient individually and prescribe stimulant medications when the clinical picture supports it. We don't have a blanket policy against stimulants, and we won't make you feel like a drug seeker for asking. Prescriptions are never guaranteed, but they're never withheld without good clinical reason.
A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse with specialized training in psychiatric evaluation and medication management. In Florida, PMHNPs have full prescriptive authority for psychiatric medications without physician oversight. While psychiatrists complete a medical degree and residency, PMHNPs complete graduate-level psychiatric nursing training with dedicated clinical hours in psychiatric care. For outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management — which is what this practice provides — a board-certified PMHNP is fully qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and treat the conditions we see.
Florida Behavioral Health Associates is a practice built for growth. Jason de Luisa is the founder and current clinical director, and we are actively building our provider team. The name reflects where we are going, not just where we are now.
No referral is required. You can book directly through our patient portal. Most new patients are seen within 1–2 days.
Appointments & Process
What to Expect
Your initial evaluation is a comprehensive psychiatric interview — typically 60 minutes. We review your history, current symptoms, prior medications, and how your condition is affecting your daily functioning. You'll have time to ask questions. At the end, your provider will discuss clinical impressions and next steps.
Follow-up frequency depends on your treatment plan and how stable your condition is. Most patients are seen monthly initially, then less frequently as things stabilize. Follow-up visits are $125.
Refill requests should be submitted through the patient portal. Controlled substances require regular follow-up visits and cannot be refilled indefinitely without an appointment. Plan ahead — do not wait until you are out of medication to request a refill.
Yes. You must be physically located in Florida at the time of your telehealth appointment. This is a legal requirement for prescribing across state lines.
Fees & Insurance
Cost & Coverage
We are actively pursuing insurance credentialing with major Florida carriers. Currently, self-pay rates are $250 for the initial evaluation and $125 for follow-up visits. We provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Call or email to ask about your specific plan.
Yes. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
Safety & Crisis
Emergencies
Florida Behavioral Health Associates is an outpatient telehealth practice and is not equipped for psychiatric emergencies. If you are in crisis, please call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741, or go to your nearest emergency room. For urgent non-emergency concerns between appointments, contact us through the patient portal.
